Institute Professor at the Laboratory of Neurodegeneration and Experimental Therapy, Department of Brain Biochemistry IP PAS, within the project entitled: “Optimization of bioavailability and verification of the therapeutic potential of Tryptamide in neurological diseases”, project no. 2024/ABM/03/KPO/KPOD.07.07-IW.07-0173/24-00 Task no. 3
We are seeking a team member to plan, coordinate and conduct research on the effects of drug administration on the behavior of laboratory mice. The research will involve assessing the effects of single and repeated administration of LPS on behaviour changes using Promethion metabolic cages and other behavioral tests (e.g., tests measuring anxiety-like behavior, depression-related behavior or learning and memory), as well as evaluating the influence of other drug on these effects. The candidate will also supervise research conducted by other specialists and actively participate in literature review, research results processing and preparation of research reports.
The candidate for the position of Institute Professor at the Laboratory of Neurodegeneration and Experimental Therapy, Department of Brain Biochemistry of the Maj Institute of Pharmacology Polish Academy of Sciences (hereinafter referred to as the Institute or IP PAS) should meet the following requirements:
- A Doctor of Science (DSc) degree (habilitation) or the title of professor in the field of medical, chemical, biological or pharmaceutical sciences;
- Employment outside the Maj Institute of Pharmacology Polish Academy of Sciences;
- Completed training in performing procedures on laboratory animals, in accordance with the Act on the Protection of Animals Used for Scientific or Educational Purposes (as in Journal of Laws of 2023, item 465);
- Extensive research experience in working with laboratory animals regarding the assessment of the effects of drugs on behavior in animal models of central nervous system disorders, documented in the form of at least 3 publications in journals listed in the Journal Citation Reports (JCR) database;
- Extensive experience in conducting research using behavioral tests on various strains of laboratory mice;
- Experience in research using automated metabolic and/or behavioral phenotyping in mice;
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a teamwork environment;
- Experience in national and international research projects, including as project leader;
- Experience in presenting research results at scientific conferences;
- Proficiency in English sufficient for working with scientific literature and preparing documentation;
- Impeccable ethical attitude.
ADDITIONAL ADVANTAGE WOULD BE:
- Proficiency in Polish.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review and analysis of scientific literature related to the project’s subject matter;
- Planning and performing behavioral research;
- Processing of research results;
- Documenting experimental tests;
- Maintenance of a clean and organized work environment;
- Strict adherence to the Code of Ethics for PAS employees;
- Compliance with all rules and regulations in force at IF PAN.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Fixed-term employment (September 2025 – March 31, 2026, with the possibility of extension) based on a part-time employment contract (1/2 FTE);
- Access to state-of-the-art research infrastructure, equipment, and administrative support.
