“The Mechanism of TREM-Like Transcript (TLT)-1 in Thrombus Modulation and its Therapeutic Potential” by Professor A. Valance Washington, which will take place on May 22, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Maj Istytut of Phrmacology Polish Academy of Science ( IP PAS)

Professor A. Valance Washington conducts scientific research and teaches biology at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, USA.
He leads a research laboratory focused on the TREM-Like Transcript-1 (TLT-1) receptor and its role in inflammation and blood coagulation. His scientific work includes studies on acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), systemic lupus erythematosus, and the pathogenesis of cystic fibrosis. His publications appear in renowned journals such as Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, Platelets, JACS Au, and the European Journal of Rheumatology.

Professor Washington also teaches courses and research seminars for medical students, with a strong commitment to supporting underrepresented minorities in the sciences. He promotes strategies for active learning and scientific identity development. In addition, he conducts seminars for PhD students on preparing grant proposals for NIH funding.
