The events of 1954-2004 were compiled on the basis of the publication 50 years of the Institute of Pharmacology of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Krakow, edited by prof. Barbara Przewłocka.

  • On November 1, establishment of the Department of Pharmacology of the Polish Academy of Sciences

  • The Neuropeptide Research Laboratory is established at the Department of Pharmacology

  • The Laboratory of Neurotransmitter Receptors and Metabolism is established at the Department of Biochemistry
  • The Drug Addiction Laboratory is established at the Department of Molecular Neuropharmacology

1998

  • The Department of Immunobiology is liquidated
  • The Intracellular Signal Laboratory is established at the Department of Biochemistry
  • the Pain Research Laboratory and the Gene Therapy Laboratory, joint for CMUJ and IF, are established at the Department of Molecular Neuropharmacology

1999

  • the following laboratories are being established in the Department of Pharmacology: Brain Pharmacology and Biostructure, Biochemical Pharmacology and Behavioral Pharmacology

2000

  • establishment of the 2nd Local Ethical Committee for Animal Experiments

2002

  • Institute obtains the status of Center of Excellence in Neuropsychopharmacology – FRAM

2003

  • Creation of Doctoral School

2004

  • reconstruction and modernization of the Library and Reading Room

2005

  • change of the title of the journal published by Institute to Pharmacological Reports

2006

  • The Department of Pain Pharmacology at the Department of Molecular Neuropharmacology is established
  • The Laboratory of Drug Addiction at the Department of Pharmacology is liquidated
  • reconstruction and modernization of the Animal House (completed in 2007)

2007

  • prof. Krzysztof Wędzony becomes the Director of the Institute
  • Departments of Brain Biochemistry and Department of Neurochemistry are established (instead of the Department of Biochemistry)
  • the Laboratories of Neuromediator Receptors and Metabolism, Intracellular Signaling and Behavioral Neurobiology, existing at the Department of Biochemistry, are being liquidated
  • The Laboratory of the Neurobiology of Trace Elements is established at the Department of Neurobiology

2010

  • The institute ibrary starts subscriptions to electronic journals
  • Beginning of the renovation and modernization of the institute’s main building (renovation works were completed in 2013)

2011

  • co-organizes Interdisciplinary Doctoral Studies “Molecular Sciences for Medicine”, co-financed by the EU

2012

  • Institute obtains the status of the KNOW National Scientific Research Center

2013

  • the Laboratory of Pain Pathophysiology is established at the Department of Pain Pharmacology
  • The Laboratory of Neurobiology of Emotions and Cognitive Processes is established at the Department of New Drug Research
  • The Laboratory of Transgenic Models is established at the Department of Molecular Neuropharmacology

2014

  • Incorporation of Pharmacological Reports journal to Elsevier, implementation of an electronic system for editing and producing the journal
  • the Scientific Information Center, Library and Archives are established by combining the Scientific Information and Documentation Department and the Archive

2016

  • Institute takes 4th place in the competition of the National Council of Doctoral Students and the Council of the Doctoral Students’ Self-Government of the Polish Academy of Sciences “for the most post-doctoral institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences” – PROPAN 2016

2017

  • prof. Władysław Lasoń becomes the director of the Institute
  • The Department of the Pharmacology of Addiction is established (instead of the laboratory)
  • transfer of the Laboratory of Neurobiology of Emotions and Cognitive Processes to the Department of Pharmacology
  • Institute together with other research units of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Jagiellonian University, co-organizes the Community Doctoral Studies “Interdisciplinarity for Innovative Medicine” (InterDokMed)
  • Institute takes second place in the competition for the most postdoctoral institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences – PROPAN 2017
