Maj Institute of Pharmacology Polish Academy of Sciences (further called Institute or IP PAS) announces a competition for the position of an assistant (post-doc) (F/M/X) at the Laboratory of Immunoendocrinology, Department of Experimental Neuroendocrinology IP PAS for the implementation of tasks in the NCN OPUS 28 (2024/55/B/NZ4/01732) project “A new concept of inhibiting the progression of Alzheimer’s disease based on the modification of the blood-brain barrier (BBB) properties by pro-resolving compounds”.

We are looking for an assistant (post-doc) (F/M/X) interested in conducting in vitro and in vivo research, including biochemical, molecular, omics, and behavioral studies at the Laboratory of Immunoendocrinology, Department of Experimental Neuroendocrinology IP PAS.
A candidate for the position of an assistant (post-doc) (F/M/X) should meet the following conditions:
- PhD in biological, medical or pharmaceutical or related sciences obtained in the year of employment in the project or within 12 years prior to January 1st of the year of employment in the project. This period may be extended by the duration of long-term (over 90 days) documented sickness benefits or rehabilitation benefits due to incapacity for work. Additionally, this period may be extended by the number of months spent on leave related to the care and upbringing of children granted under the terms of the Labor Code and in the case of women, by 18 months for each born or adopted child, if this method of indicating career breaks is more favorable.
- The candidate has obtained a doctoral degree from an entity other than the entity where employment for this position is planned or has completed at least 10 months of continuous and documented postdoctoral training at an entity other than the entity carrying out the project and in a country other than the country where the doctoral degree was obtained;
- During the period of receiving remuneration for the aforementioned project, the candidate will not receive any other remuneration from funds allocated as direct costs of research projects financed under NCN (National Science Centre) competitions;
- During the period of receiving remuneration for the aforementioned project, the candidate will not receive remuneration from another employer under an employment contract, including an employer based outside Poland;
- During the period of receiving this remuneration, the candidate will not receive pension benefits from the social security system;
- Experience in working in a biochemical laboratory, confirmed by publications;
- Expertise in the fields of molecular neurobiology and experimental immunology, evidenced by publications in international journals, including at least 2 original articles published after the doctorate;
- Experience in maintaining cell cultures, knowledge of immunofluorescence staining techniques, flow cytometry, ability to perform biochemical assays and methods (qRT-PCR, western blot, ELISA);
- Experience in working with laboratory animals as well as completed and certified training related to procedures and experiments with the use of laboratory animals, in accordance with the Act on the protection of animals used for scientific and educational purposes (as in Journal of Laws of 2023, item 465, of 2025, item 1795);
- Experience in cooperation with interdisciplinary research centres (confirmed by publications);
- Experience in implementing national and international grant projects (at least as
a contractor); - Confirmed active participation in scientific life, manifested in speeches/presentations at international conferences and symposiums;
- Experience in the analysis of experimental data using statistical methods and data science tools (including multivariate analysis and data modeling);
- Teamwork skills;
- Impeccable ethical attitude;
- Proficiency in spoken and written English;
An additional advantage will be:
- Completed at least short-term scientific and research internships in research centres;
- Proficiency in spoken and written Polish.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintenance of BBB cell cultures (glial cells and endothelial cells);
- Maintenance of transgenic animal colonies;
- Immunofluorescent staining;
- Conducting imaging using a confocal microscope;
- Qualitative and quantitative analysis of the obtained images;
- In vivo administration of chemical compounds under investigation in the project;
- Conducting behavioral tests on experimental animals;
- Conducting biochemical assays using methods to assess the expression and level of genes and proteins;
- Performing statistical analyzes of the results of biochemical and behavioral tests;
- Close collaboration with international research centers within the framework of the project;
- Preparing manuscripts for publication and presenting the results at scientific conferences;
- Strict adherence to the IF PAN employee code of ethics;
- Compliance with the regulations and orders in force at the Maj Institute of Pharmacology Polish Academy of Sciences.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Employment in the project based on a full-time employment contract, planned from April 2026 for a period of 12 months, with the possibility of extension for the duration of the project. Remuneration: PLN 140,000.00 gross gross / year. Source of funding: NCN OPUS 28 grant,
