Escape Room – Integration Event for Doctoral Students of the Krakow Interdisciplinary Doctoral School and the IF PAN Doctoral School

Amid the rush of everyday academic responsibilities, moments that allow for integration and strengthening cooperation in a more informal setting are especially valuable. Such an opportunity was created by the integration event for our Institute’s doctoral students, held on November 20, 2025, in an escape room.

Participants faced a series of logic puzzles and tasks requiring teamwork, this time in a relaxed, social atmosphere. Working together to find solutions offered a welcome break from daily duties while fostering relationship-building and helping colleagues get to know one another outside the academic environment.

I hope that this year’s integration outings – initiated as part of my term – were enjoyable and meaningful for all doctoral students. At the same time, I wish the new Doctoral Students’ Council all the best and many successful initiatives in the coming academic year.

The event served both integrative and introductory functions, offering participants the opportunity to learn about the research techniques most frequently employed by their fellow doctoral students. It was a valuable occasion for exchanging knowledge and experiences, enabling a better understanding of diverse research approaches and their applications in scientific work.

A Visit to the Krakow Opera for the Performance of The Marriage of Figaro

Amid the daily rush of academic duties and research work, it is worth taking a moment to step away from routine and immerse oneself in culture. Such an opportunity came for the doctoral students of our Institute, who on March 29, 2025, attended an unforgettable cultural event – W.A. Mozart’s opera The Marriage of Figaro, staged at the Krakow Opera.

This outing proved to be an excellent occasion to take a break from intensive scientific work and relax while enjoying exceptional music, wonderful vocals, and masterful performance. Filled with humor, intrigue, and unforgettable arias, the opera created not only a space for artistic delight but also for integration and exchange of experiences among our PhD candidates.

It is important to remember that despite numerous professional challenges, moments like these remind us how valuable it is to find time for rest and inspiration drawn from culture. In a world full of academic responsibilities, it is sometimes worth taking a step toward the arts and allowing oneself a moment of relaxation – for it is precisely such experiences that can bring fresh energy and new ideas for future work.

We look forward to the next shared events that will continue to inspire and motivate us in the challenges ahead!
